THE COMPLETE WORKFLOW
From footage to a thumbnail you can actually use
FrameForge is a manual, browser-based editor. It does not download YouTube videos or extract remote frames. Use a video file available on your device, capture the frame yourself, and keep control over the message and composition.
◉
01
Choose a strong source moment
Start with footage you own or have permission to use. Look for one clear subject, visible action or emotion, and enough calm space for a short headline.
↥
02
Upload a compatible video
Choose Upload a video in the FrameForge studio. MP4 and WebM are common browser-friendly choices; MOV playback depends on the browser and its codec support.
◷
03
Capture the frame you want
Use the video controls to move to the right moment. Wait until the video is ready, then choose Capture frame to place that moment into the 1280 × 720 preview.

04
Write a readable headline
Edit the headline, choose a layout preset, tune text color and size, and adjust the background overlay. Keep the message short and away from the main action.
⌁
05
Check the live preview
Review the thumbnail at a glance. Confirm that the subject is clear, the type has contrast, and nothing important sits too close to the edges.

06
Download the PNG
Select Download PNG when the composition is ready. For a regular YouTube thumbnail, keep the ratio set to 16:9 for the 1280 × 720 canvas.
✦
A SIMPLE COMPOSITION CHECK
If the idea is unclear in a quick glance, choose a simpler frame.
Keep the important face, object, or action away from the edges. Use the overlay and text color to create separation instead of adding more words.
WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG
Troubleshooting the browser workflow
These checks cover the most common points where a local video or PNG export can fail.
!
The video is unsupported
Try a browser-compatible MP4 or WebM file. Some MOV files and codecs are not playable in every browser, so FrameForge cannot capture a frame until the file decodes.
↻
Frame capture failed
Wait until the video is ready, move the playhead slightly, and try Capture frame again. A frame must be decoded and drawable in the browser before it can enter the preview.
↓
PNG export failed
Make sure a video frame or reference image is available. With a video, capture a frame first; export is intentionally stopped when no valid captured frame exists.
QUICK ANSWERS
FAQ
A few honest answers before you open the studio.
No. FrameForge validates the URL format only. It does not download or process remote YouTube content. Upload a local video file instead.

GOOD TO KNOW
The editor also accepts an optional reference image and includes 1:1 as an additional export ratio. Choose 16:9 when your destination is a standard YouTube thumbnail.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Selected files are previewed in your browser. There is no paid processing service or AI generation behind this current workflow.
